Menu
The restaurant boasts that it serves “Great Italian Food”— and it does. There are appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, seafood, chicken and veal dishes. If a casual meal is what you’re looking for, order a pizza, calzone, stromboli or hero. Desserts include tiramisu, gelato and cannoli “chips and dip.” Beer and wine are available.
Atmosphere
High ceilings, brick walls and soft lighting make for a comfortable setting.
Our favorite food/price
Chicken Nerano ($18) tempted me, promising zucchini, squash, chopped tomatoes and grilled chicken sauteed in garlic and extra-virgin olive oil, tossed with Parmesan cheese, arugula and rigatoni, then topped with goat cheese. It was fabulous, from the perfectly cooked pasta to the tender chicken and tangy goat cheese. One of my friends had Chicken Sorrentina ($19), a hearty dish of two chicken breasts topped with eggplant, prosciutto, tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella, then finished in a demi-glace. My other dining companion enjoyed Chicken Piccata ($18.30) in a lemon-butter white-wine sauce. Both of my friends’ dishes were served with a choice of salad or a side of pasta with tomato sauce; they both chose pasta. We sampled each other’s dinners and still had plenty to take home for lunch the next day.
Reason to go
The food is wonderful. It’s obvious the word’s gotten out, so you may have to wait. But it’s worth it!
Service
It was a busy Thursday night, every table was full, and there were people lined up at the door. Our server appeared overwhelmed and wasn’t quite as attentive as we would have liked. But we were pleased that our meals came out quickly.
Noise level
The restaurant was full, and it was quite noisy. People were obviously enjoying themselves, mostly in parties of four or more. The chatter didn’t negatively affect the more muted conversation at our table, however.
Kid friendly
There is a menu for the bambinos, offering cheese pizza, ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, penne in butter sauce, chicken fingers with fries or mozzarella sticks. The meals are $7 and include a soft drink.
